Join HIMANE, Inc. To Support Haiti!

This past week at HIMANE Inc., we have been mourning the victims of the tragic earthquake that devastated Haiti, the motherland of our designer and founder Catherine Charlot, last Tuesday, January 12th. Under these circumstances, Catherine and the staff are very pleased and grateful for the kind words and support emanating from our clientele, friends and others. We thank you all for your genuine compassion toward Haiti and its people.

Even though she is still recovering from the shock, Catherine is determined to help her fellow Haitians by raising money and collecting donations. Here are some of the supplies we hope to collect: Canned Foods; Water Supplies; Canned Milk; Disinfectants; Gauze and Dressings; Tape; Antibiotic Ointment (Neosporin); Analgesics (Tylenol, Aspirin, Advil, Aleve); Sinus Medications; Diapers; Baby Bottles; Adhesive Bandages (Band-Aids); Antibacterial solutions (Peroxide); Hand Sanitizers; Masks; Sterile Gloves; Wraps; Rolled Bandages; Baby Formula; Infant Re-hydration (Pedialyte); and Personal Care Items (Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Soaps, Feminine Hygiene Supplies, etc.)

If you are free and in the New York City area next Thursday, January 28, please stop by Linger Café, located at 533 Atlantic Ave (between 3rd and 4th Avenues) in Brooklyn to show your support. However, in the event that you are unable to physically participate, you can still send donations to:

Catherine Charlot was born and raised in Haiti until the age of 24. She is the founder, CEO, designer, creative genius, and fashion visionary of HIMANE. It is safe to say that anyone who comes across her innovative and eco-friendly designs is immediately aware of the passion and love she puts into each of her creations.

Catherine is also a proud Haitian, who taught herself to sew at the age of 13 by deconstructing her parents’ clothes and re-designing them into new garments. By the age of 20, she attended the Verona Alta Costura School of Fashion and Accessories Design in Haiti (which was destroyed in last week's earthquake), and later attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

Her Haitian background has been a part of HIMANE from its inception. When the earthquake hit Catherine's native country last Tuesday and destroyed the family house, her world felt apart. Nonetheless, she is determined to help her unfortunate fellow compatriots to overcome the ripple effects of this devastating natural disaster.
